Cornerback Fred Bennett has offered technique advice to Brice McCain (pictured left) and Glover Quin.
Cornerback Fred Bennett has become a leader among the Texans' young cornerbacks during training camp. Bennett, who has a team-high five interceptions since 2007, is full of confidence as he enters his third season in the NFL.
1. Do you feel any pressure being the only healthy corner on the roster who has ever played a down for the Texans before?
"No, I don't feel any pressure. I go out there and do my thing."
2. Have you talked to Dunta Robinson, your good friend and former South Carolina teammate, about returning to camp?"No."
3. With Robinson not in camp, how have you handled being the leader of the cornerbacks group in only your third season?"It's a task that can be hectic if you let it be hectic. Pressure busts pipes, but pressure does not bust me. It's no pressure at all. I just have to go out there and perform well. That's it."
4. What have you emphasized to rookie cornerbacks Glover Quin and Brice McCain?"Teaching them technique. I'm always in their ear when they mess up on something technique-wise. It's a lot of talent between those two, and it's my job to polish up their technique."
5. Did recent your experience as a rookie impact the way you help the younger players?
"Yes, most definitely. I had Dunta Robinson, DeMarcus Faggins and Jamar Fletcher, to name a few. Those guys took me under their wings and showed me the ropes when I was a rookie. I just want to return the favor to these young guys."
6. What do you expect to see out of Antwaun Molden once he's healthy?"I think he's going to come back and make a big contribution to this team. He has a lot of talent. He has a lot of work to do as well. He's kind of behind right now on some things that we're doing, but as you can see, he's making progress. When he comes back, I think he can do some big things."
{QUOTE}7. Going into your third season, how confident are you as a player?"I'm real confident. I've always been a confident guy. That's one thing I push off of is being confident. Right now, I'm just trying to take my game to another level and do what I can to help this team."
8. What are your goals for this season?
"I really don't set any goals. I just try to be better than I was last year, basically."
9. What are some of your favorite things to do off the field?"I play basketball and I love to fish, but basically, just watching TV."
10. Which opponent are you most looking forward to playing this season?
"I look forward to playing everybody, everybody that's on our schedule and every receiver. I really don't pinpoint a certain game or a certain player because I feel like every game is important. When you step out on the field Sunday, no matter who you're lining up against, you have to go to work and do your job."
