What's in a number? HoustonTexans.com is taking a look back at the numerical roster of the franchise, and going over every number that's been worn in team history. From the memorable ones like 99, 80, and 4, to some that might not ring a bell, we've got them all covered.

Dorin Dickerson, WR, 2010

A seventh round selection, and the final player picked in the team's 9-man 2010 Draft class, Dickerson came to the Texans to play receiver. A tight end who caught 10 touchdowns his final season in college at Pitt, the 6-2, 226-pounder never logged a reception his lone year in Houston.

Dickerson did, however, make appearances in seven games that season, with his debut coming in the Week 4 win at Oakland, which pushed the Texans' record to 3-1. He played again the next week at home against the Giants, and then appeared in five more contests with the Texans.

He was let go at the end of the 2011 training camp, and went on to play for the Bills in 2012 and the Lions in 2013.

Edell Shepherd, WR, 2006

The San Jose State product finished his 3-year NFL career in Houston, as he caught three passes for 22 yards, and returned a total of 17 kickoffs and three punts for a combined 419 yards. He did all that in a 7-game stretch that began in Week 2 at Indianapolis, and culminated in a loss at the Giants.

Shepherd's first NFL game-action came in 2003 in a pair of contests with the Buccaneers. He appeared in all 16 games with Tampa Bay two seasons later.
