7 Texans named as team captains for 2024 season

The Texans have seven team captains for the 2024 regular season.

2024 Texans Captains

The team announced Monday that quarterback C.J. Stroud, left tackle Laremy Tunsil, wide receiver Stefon Diggs, defensive end Will Anderson, Jr., linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair, safety Jimmie Ward and long snapper Jon Weeks will wear the captain's "C" patch on their chest as leaders of the squad.

For Stroud, Tunsil, Anderson and Ward, it's the second straight season they've been announced as captains at the start of the year for Houston. Tunsil served as a captain for the latter half of 2022, as well.

Weeks is the longest-tenured Texan on the squad, and nobody in franchise history has suited up for as many games (227) as the Pro Bowl long snapper. He's served as a team captain at various points throughout his career in Houston.

Al-Shaair was a team captain last season for the Titans in Tennessee, and this is the fourth consecutive season Diggs will be a team captain. The wide receiver was selected as a Bills team captain in each of the three previous seasons.

Houston faces the Colts in Indianapolis this Sunday.
