Arian Foster has a lot to look forward to, between his Hollywood movie debut this weekend and his imminent return to football.
During his "Draft Day" movie premiere on Thursday night, the Texans All-Pro running back confirmed he would be back for OTAs beginning May 27.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Foster said Thursday night. "I got cleared and I've been training for about two months now, so I'm feeling good."
Heading into his fifth NFL season, Foster will have a new running backs coach in Charles London on Bill O'Brien's staff. Players, however, won't get a chance to work with their position coaches until Phase 2 of the offseason workout program which kicked off this week. Foster didn't make any bold predictions for 2014 but said he'll continue to play the game as he always has, to the best of his ability.
"Well, I think anytime you have new blood in a place, it's going to create a little buzz so everybody's excited but in my opinion, players still have to make plays," Foster said. "I think the coaches can do a great job of motivating but when it comes down to it, it falls on our shoulders. We're the ones between those white lines."
Foster started eight games in 2013 before suffering a season-ending back injury in Week 9 against Indianapolis. Through his first eight weeks, he ranked second in the AFC with 542 yards rushing on 121 carries, averaging 4.5 yards per carry. Foster accumulated a total of 725 yards from scrimmage and reached 5,000 career rushing yards in Week 6 against St. Louis.
