Arian Foster had his best game of the season on Sunday: two rushing touchdowns and 172 yards from scrimmage.
For Foster, it didn't lessen the sting of losing. After scoring the game-tying touchdown with less than one minute remaining, hopes were high that the Texans could pull out a win in Dallas.
"That's what we told ourselves, but we didn't execute when we needed to," Foster said.
Foster seemed to be healthy, after missing Week 3 with a hamstring injury and being limited in practice for the past few weeks.
"I've been feeling good all season with the exception of the injury," Foster said. "Coming out of the gate, I felt pretty well."
In the Texans 20-17 overtime loss in Dallas, Foster finished with 157 rushing yards on 23 carries and added 15 yards on two receptions.
"I thought the blocking was good for him and he made some really good runs," head coach Bill O'Brien said after the game. "He's a good football player and he had a good game."
Foster leads the league with 20 games of at least 150 yards from scrimmage since 2010. The three-time Pro Bowl back has already surpassed his 2013 season with three scores through five games. He had just one rushing and one receiving touchdown last year. It was Foster's 14th career game with multiple touchdowns from scrimmage and his league-leading 20th game with at least 150 yards from scrimmage since 2010.
"Arian's a very special player," Ryan Fitzpatrick said. "In every game he's been out there, when he's been healthy and playing, we've seen that…It's about playmakers. The NFL is all about getting your playmakers the ball."
Through five games, Foster has accumulated 404 rushing yards, 99 receiving yards, and three rushing touchdowns.
