Shane Lechler racked up the punting yards in 2017.

He boomed 92 punts for an NFL-high 4,507 yards this season, which was good for 49 yards per punt.

According to the Texans media relations department, which you can follow on Twitter @TexansPR, Lechler's punted for 68,678 yards in his 18-year career. That's 39.02 miles. 

If you started at NRG Stadium, you'd get 90.5 percent of the way to Lechler's hometown of East Bernard, which is 43.1 miles away.

Or, starting from NRG Stadium, you could make it in a straight line to the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavillion with seven miles and change to spare.

A trip to the San Jacinto Monument and back could almost happen, as you could make it there and wind up just under a mile short of returning to the stadium.

Lechler's an avid fisherman. He and his brother Derek routinely leave from the Texas City Dike for excursions in Galveston Bay. From the stadium to the dike is 39.59 miles. 

Bottom line: Lechler's logged a lot of yards through the air in his time as a punter.
