Less than one year ago, Brock Osweiler faced the Kansas City Chiefs in a Broncos uniform. Now as the Texans starter, he hopes last year's preparation and his chemistry with a new team will help in Sunday's matchup.
"I've only played one half against the Kansas City Chiefs but I've been a part of many meetings, game planning against them, I've been a part of many games, watching from the sideline. I feel like I know their personnel fairly well. When you watch the Kansas City Chiefs on tape you see a team that's physical."
Osweiler entered the game in the third quarter and completed 14-of-24 passes for 146 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He also rushed for 18 yards on three carries. The Chiefs won 29-13 and Osweiler learned the capabilities of a tough defense that forced five total interceptions against his former team.
"It starts up front," Osweiler said. "It starts with their linebackers. Derrick Johnson, he's a stud. He's a terrific football player. He's just one of on that defense. There's a lot of great football players on that defense. I think 'physical' is the first thing you say, and then you see a unit that plays as just that – a unit. It's 11 guys flying to the football every single play. The front seven is causing chaos in the pocket, the back end, the safeties, the corners, they're making big plays, they're causing turnovers. I see a hell of a defense and I know we have a great challenge on Sunday."
The (1-0) Texans will host the (1-0) Chiefs on Sunday with kickoff set for noon CT. Houston is 3-4 all-time against Kansas City in the regular season, including 2-3 at home.
