As you might have heard yesterday, J.J. Watt signed a six-year extension with the Texans. In what will likely go down as a historic day in franchise history, the team locked up the NFL's best defensive player, ensuring that Watt will wear a Texans jersey for at least the prime years of his career.
With all the success he's had in the NFL, sometimes it is hard to remember that Watt is only entering his fourth season. After a strong rookie campaign, which was highlighted by a monster performance in the team's playoff run, Watt exploded onto the scene in 2012. During Tuesday night's 'Texans Live' broadcast, radio hosts Marc Vandermeer, Drew Dougherty and Deepi Sidhu talked about when it hit them that Watt was going to be a star.
Dougherty's answer was unique, in that he talked about Watt's first day on the job. When a draft pick normally arrives in town for the first time, the day is filled with pomp and circumstance. Watt kept in simple. He only wanted his playbook.
Three years later, Watt is now the highest paid defensive player in the entire league. Yesterday's announcement was obviously a big deal, and we attempted to cover it as such. If you missed anything, below is a 'warehouse' of stories, video and social posts that recap everything that happened here at NRG Stadium.
