In the end, Brian Cushing was the USC linebacker the Texans settled on, not Clay Matthews. Cushing is the first player the Texans have ever drafted from USC. He has four years of experience at USC, can play either outside linebacker position, has the speed to make plays in pass coverage and is a tenacious player against the run.
"I'm thrilled to be there," Cushing told ESPN's Erin Andrews. "It's the opportunity of a lifetime.
"I'm just a versatile player, I can play any of the three linebacker positions, I'm a hard-working guy. No one can ever out-work me."
We'll have Frank Bush talking about him in the press box shortly.
