Davis Mills was happy to have Brandin Cooks back in action.
The former found the latter for an 8-yard touchdown pass late in the first half Sunday, as the Texans took a 7-0 lead on the 49ers at Levi's Stadium.
Cooks missed the Week 16 win over the Chargers because he was on the Reserve/COVID-19 List, but the veteran wide receiver returned to the 53-man roster earlier this week and made a major impact in the first half of the contest at San Francisco.
After a Desmond King II interception, Mills and the Texans marched 80 yards in 14 plays, burning 7:15 off the game clock in the process. On the possession, the rookie quarterback found Cooks for a 24-yard gain on a beautiful third-down throw up the left sideline. Mills also hit fellow rookie Nico Collins for a 15-yard pickup to the left side earlier in the drive. The touchdown pass was the first play coming out of the two-minute warning, and it put Houston on top with 1:57 left in the second quarter.
The touchdown catch was Cooks' sixth of 2021. For Mills, it was his 13th scoring strike of the season.
K Ka'imi Fairbairn, also back from the COVID-19 list after missing last week's game versus Los Angeles, connected on the extra point try.
