Deshaun Watson scores in NFL debut

Deshaun Watson led the Texans on two scoring drives in Wednesday night's preseason game at Carolina and rushed for his first NFL touchdown.

In his NFL debut, Watson entered the game in the second quarter and completed 15-of-29 passes for 179 yards. Watson also rushed for 24 yards on three carries before DeAndre Hopkins relieved him with 5:05 remaining in the game.

Late in the third quarter, the rookie quarterback orchestrated a 15-play, 75-yard drive that lasted 7:50 and ended in Watson's 15-yard rushing touchdown on third-and-8. Watson longest completions on the drive were to Dres Anderson and Akeem Hunt for 19 yards and 14 yards, respectively.

Watson entered the game for starter Tom Savage, who played three series and exited after leading the Texans on their first scoring drive of the game.

The Houston Texans take on the Carolina Panthers for the first preseason game in 2017.
