Ed Reed made a trip to see his rehab specialist for the second time in a week. Reed, who was at the Texans preseason game against Miami on Saturday, had returned from Atlanta just days before.
"We sent him back to Atlanta because it's such a positive step for him," head coach Gary Kubiak said on Monday. "All I know is all indications are things are going really, really good. We're trying to listen to him and make sure we're doing the right thing."
Reed met with the same specialist who he has worked with in the past, in conjunction with the Texans head athletic trainer Geoff Kaplan. The eight-time All-Pro safety is progressing ahead of schedule and responding well to the rehab process, according to Kubiak
"Yeah, it's good for his confidence," Kubiak said. "I know that because that's the guy he went through the process with before. Geoff Kaplan's worked with him and done a good job. We'll proceed with that this week and probably have the actual surgeon look at him before this week is out."
Reed's confidence in his rehab specialist may be for good reason. When he returned from hip surgery in April 2010, Reed led the league in number of interceptions (8), interception yards (183), and had a team-high 16 passes defensed during his 2010-11 season with the Baltimore Ravens.
