Getting set for New England | Daily Brew

The Texans are on the road this Sunday against the Patriots.

Over the last seven meetings in the regular season, Tom Brady was the starter under center for New England. This will be the third game in that span, though, for a rookie quarterback to start for the Patriots. In 2016, Jacoby Brissett engineered a 27-0 win over Houston. He was up because Brady was serving a suspension and backup Jimmy Garroppolo was hurt. In 2021, Mac Jones and the Pats came into NRG Stadium, rallied from a 22-9 second half deficit, and kicked a field goal with 0:15 remaining in regulation to beat Houston, 25-22.

Jones is now a backup in Jacksonville, and Brissett's backing up rookie Drake Maye this weekend with these Patriots.

Perhaps the third time is a charm for the Texans against Patriot rookie quarterbacks.
