Said running back Ahman Green on what the team might get from West Virginia rookie Steve Slaton, the Texans' second third-round pick in the 2008 draft: "Speed. He's not a big back, but **you don’t need to be a big back in the NFL**. You've just got to find your niche and basically make it better, hone it in, and he has the speed. (When) he gets on the corner, I think 9 times out of 10, the guys on our schedule, the teams that we face, not many guys can catch him."
So what does Green know about the subject? Green knows plenty. Along with Bo Jackson, he is one of only two backs in NFL history with multiple touchdown runs of 90-plus yards, and Green has eight career carries of at least 60 yards. He also captured the Nebraska state titles in the 100- and 200-meter dashes and was a member of a state championship 400-meter relay team during his high school days.
All of which makes him at least somewhat of qualified to speak on the topic - and make his endorsement of Slaton that much more exciting.
