The Texans and Kroger gave away 1,000 turkeys just days before Thanksgiving.
In partnership with Kroger, several players, Houston Texans Cheerleaders, Lady Texans and Texans Foundation Vice President Hannah McNair passed out turkeys and side dishes to 1,000 people outside NRG Stadium.
In less than two hours, beginning at 10 a.m. last Tuesday, "Turkey Time With the Texans" saw employees from the organization and Kroger team up with defensive end Danielle Hunter, safety Jimmie Ward, linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair, and several other players to distribute the food.
"We continue to give back to the community," McNair said. "That's at the heart of who we are as an organization. To continue to be able to do that, especially this week during Thanksgiving. We're excited to be here today."
It all happened on property at the Kroger Gate, and in addition to passing out the food, the players said they enjoyed the interaction with those in need.
"It feels great," defensive end Mario Edwards, Jr. said. "You never know a gesture like this, whether it's a hug or a smile, or kind words can go so far. It's very special right now, during this time with family."
This is the second year in a row Kroger and the Texans have teamed up for Turkey Time with the Texans.
