Nick Caley is now the Texans offensive coordinator.
He was hired by the team on Monday.
The 42-year old Ohioan served as the Pass Game Coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams last fall, and was the team's tight ends coach the last two seasons. In 2015 and 2016, Caley was an offensive assistant in New England, and then became the Patriots' tight ends coach from 2017 through 2022.
Caley has coached Rob Gronkowski, Tyler Higbee, Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith, among many others, at the tight end position.
Prior to his time in the NFL, Caley served as an assistant coach on the defensive side of the ball for a decade in college football.
He was born in Canton, Ohio and starred in high school at St. Thomas Aquinas. After graduating in 2001, he went to Walsh University and finished at John Carroll University. In 2005, he worked as a graduate assistant at JCU, and then spent the next two years in the same capacity at Akron. In 2008 he was an administrative assistant at Auburn, and a graduate assistant for three seasons after that at Iowa State. Caley was hired as a secondary coach by Eastern Illinois in 2012, and in 2013 he was a graduate assistant at Arkansas. His final year in college football was in 2014, when he was a graduate assistant for Florida Atlantic University.
