This week's Houston Texans 5A Coach of the Week Award goes to head coach Don Clayton of Cinco Ranch High School. Cinco Ranch defeated Katy 27-21 for the first ever win over Katy as well as their first district title. The Cougars were led by receiver Tyler Mack who hauled in 8 receptions for 136 yards and two scores. Cinco Ranch will play Alief Taylor in the bi-district round.
This week's Houston Texans 4A-under Coach of the Week award goes to head coach Lydell Wilson of Lamar Consolidated High School. Lamar Consolidated defeated El Campo 24-14 to win the District 23-4A title outright. The Mustangs used 2 rushing touchdowns by running Marcel Threat to take home the win. Lamar Consolidated will take on Friendswood in the first round of the playoffs.
This week's third Houston Texans Coach of the Week award goes to head coach Shane Hallmark of Hightower High School. Hightower defeated Travis this week 38-0 to go undefeated on the season. The Hurricanes were led to victory by the Quarterback AJ Highsmith who threw 3 touchdown passes. The Hurricanes will play Clear Creek this Friday in Pearland.
This week's fourth Houston Texans Coach of the Week award goes to head coach Ryan Roark of Needville High School. Needville clinched the final playoff spot in 26-3A with a 27-26 win over Brookshire Royal. The Blue Jays sealed the victory with a blocked game winning field goal attempt on the last play of the game. Needville will face Sealy in the bi-district round of the playoffs.
Cinco Ranch High School, Lamar Consolidated High School, Hightower High School, and Needville High School will each receive a $500 grant in their coach's name for winning the Texans Coach of the Week Award. Also, each coach will be recognized on HoustonTexans.com and NFLHS.com, and on the video board at Reliant Stadium. Coach Clayton, Coach Wilson, Coach Hallmark and Coach Roark will also be invited to a Texans home game later on in the season and will be recognized at the Texans High School Coach of the Year Banquet after the season. Fox Sports Net Houston and the US Army are associate sponsors of the Texans Coach of the Week Program.
