What does Jadeveon Clowney like most about lining up at outside linebacker?
"Standing up," Clowney said on Monday. "I haven't done that in a while so for me, standing up is probably my favorite thing. I get to see everything. I get to see a lot of things going on."
Clowney has had over a month to enjoy the view with a rookie minicamp and most of OTAs to settle into his role. The Texans No. 1 overall pick has worked hard to learn his new position under linebackers coach Mike Vrabel, whom he calls a "smart, smart guy."
"He's teaching me a lot about the game that I never knew," Clowney said of Vrabel.
Clowney missed the final two days of OTAs and mandatory minicamp after undergoing a sports hernia surgery on June 12. He is expected to be recovered and ready in time for training camp which begins next month.
"We feel like he is on track," head coach Bill O'Brien said of Clowney's transition to outside linebacker. "A little setback here with the sports hernia, but he's been in all of the meetings and he's an instinctive guy and he's a hardworking guy. He's a guy that has come in here when he could practice and did some good things. And so we'll be looking forward to him coming back for training camp ready to go and trying to pick up where he left off."
