Jadeveon Clowney may not be suiting up for the Texans Monday night game at Cincinnati. The second-year linebacker has been sidelined with a back injury he suffered in Week 8 against the Tennessee Titans.
"I would say day- to-day again," head coach Bill O'Brien said Friday. "I don't, I really don't know. He's dealing with a back issue and it's painful, so we've got to give it a little more time. I would say he would be unlikely to play on Monday night though."
Clowney returned to practice Wednesday but did not participate Thursday and Friday. He continues to receive treatment from the team's trainers and medical staff in the hopes that he can recover in time for the primetime matchup against the undefeated Bengals.
"He's in there right now trying to get better, trying to get treatment, trying to get back out on the field," O'Brien said. "Injuries are part of the game, and when they happen to young players it's important for young players to really learn how to deal with it and try to get over it and that's what he's doing. He's working with the trainers to get treatment and trying to get back out on the field and help our team."
The Texans head to Cincinnati to face the Bengals on Monday Night Football. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT on ESPN and SportsRadio 610.
