Wide receiver Andre Johnson left the Texans' Week 13 victory over the Atlanta Falcons late in the third quarter with a left hamstring injury. He did not return.
Johnson, who missed six games with a right hamstring injury before returning last week, pulled up lame on a deep pass from T.J. Yates and fell face-down to the field. He eventually stood up and hobbled to the sideline, then went to the locker room for further evaluation.
"They say it's a hamstring, but a typical hamstring injury and not a severe type of injury," Texans owner Bob McNair said after the game. "Hopefully, it's one we can deal with and he can be back in a couple of weeks."
Johnson said this injury felt "nowhere near" as bad as the hamstring injury he suffered in Week 4 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He doesn't know if he'll miss any time. He has an MRI scheduled for Monday morning.
"If I came back from what I came back (from) earlier in the season, I definitely feel like I can come back from this," Johnson said. "I know it's not as bad as the last injury I had, but I'm definitely worried about it. It just didn't feel right. I tried to pull and I was in full stride and I was trying to hop on one leg and I went down."
Before he walked off to the locker room, Johnson was visibly frustrated while members of the Texans' medical staff looked at his leg with Johnson seated on the offensive bench.
"It's very aggravating," Johnson said. "It's tough because you want to be out there doing everything you can to help the team. I just feel like I can't catch a break. I never had hamstring problems, so I'm wondering where it's coming from."
A five-time Pro Bowler, Johnson had four catches for 97 yards before he was injured.
"Right now, it's described to me as not being severe, but I don't think you ever know about the hamstrings until the next day," Texans coach Gary Kubiak said. "Let's just see where we're at tomorrow."
The Texans had several other injuries on Sunday. Linebacker Brian Cushing left in the second quarter with a right knee injury but returned to play the second half. Punter Brett Hartmann left with an apparent leg injury in the fourth quarter. Kubiak after the game that he didn't know his status. Kubiak said cornerback Jason Allen "got dinged" while making a tackle in the fourth quarter.
