The Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars played a tight four quarters of football at NRG Stadium Sunday afternoon.

In the Texans' first AFC South showdown at home in 2024, they were punished by an early dropped punt that allowed the Jaguars to go ahead on a two-yard throw from Trevor Lawrence to Brian Thomas Jr.

C.J. Stroud and the Houston offense responded by marching down the field and converting a 5:21 drive. Stefon Diggs zipped into the endzone after reversing a running play and fooling the Jags defense.

Cam Little ended the first quarter with a 41-yard field goal to restore Jacksonville's lead.

But the Texans worked their way up the field in the second quarter, taking over seven minutes off the clock in a 12-play drive that ended when Stroud found Nico Collins from three yards out to put the home team up 14-10.

Little capped a 39-yard Jaguars drive with a 52-yard field goal, but Ka'imi Fairbairn closed the half by connecting from 30-yards.

Houston led by four going into the half, but both teams were having trouble moving the ball after quick starts to the game.

A four minute drive by the Jaguars was finished off when Lawrence hit Christian Kirk from eight yards out. The extra point gave Jacksonville a three-point lead that they held onto until late in the fourth quarter.
