Texans fifth-round pick Sherrick McManis spoke to the media in a conference call a few minutes ago. We'll have the audio of that up as a podcast later today.
McManis, who was watching the draft on TV with his family in Peoria, Ill, said he has never been to Houston before. He called himself a physical player who is willing to do whatever it takes to win a game.
"I'm willing to come there and give them everything I've got," he said. "I know they drafted a first-round guy (Kareem Jackson), and I'm ready to compete."
As a co-captain at Northwestern, McManis fits the mold of the Texans' recent draft picks. Five of their eight picks in 2009 were team captains.
