Meet Coach Earl Westbrooks | Coach of the Week

Week 7

School: Sharpstown High School

Years Coaching: 7

How long have you been coaching? Where did your career begin? College\university you attended?

  • 7 years. My career began at Aldine Nimitz. I attended East Texas Baptist Univ.

Why do you coach?

  • I accept and love the role of being a positive role model. A coach can impact more young people in a year than most people are afforded in a lifetime.

What is the most rewarding\fulfilling part of your job?

  • Helping people to achieve their goals and seeing them grow.

In your opinion, what is the most misunderstood thing about the coaching profession?

  • Watching kids pursue their dreams.

Please share the importance of what your staff/ players are doing for your community?

  • We go to different food drives and serve the homeless, but on those sides of Sharpstown we go out every Sunday and pick up trash. We tend to have open practice for the community to come out and watch. During the bad storms the Sharpstown community went around to help others get their yards back together and recovery things that were lost. We are a family in this community, and we will continue to help.
