Week 3
Coach of the Week: Wade Miller
School: Uvalde High School
Years Coaching: 28
Why I coach: "I coach because I love kids and I love football. I have chosen to stay at the high school level because I feel I can impact more kids when you count 7th grade through 12th grade."
Most rewarding/fulfilling part of the job: "The most rewarding part of my job is seeing kids grow into responsible, caring adults."
Most misunderstood coaching profession: "Many people think coaches only care about winning games. While yes that's important, every good coach I have ever known is a good teacher, wants the best for his or her athletes and wants more than winning to see those athletes be successful adults."
Important school initiatives: "My coaches and athletes are trying to shine a positive light on our community after the tragic events. We feel like we can help the people of Uvalde heal."
