7 different receivers: Quarterback Matt Schaub piled up 325 passing yards against the Titans, throwing 54 passes and completing 35. With two touchdowns and an interception, he finished the day with an 85.8 quarterback rating.
He spread the ball around, finding seven different receivers. Kevin Walter and Jacoby Jones each caught a game-high seven passes, while Andre Johnson and Arian Foster snared six apiece. Tight ends Owen Daniels and Joel Dreessen hauled in four catches each, and running back Derrick Ward had a single reception.
Schaub attempted more than 50 passes for the second consecutive game, as he attempted a franchise-record 62 passes last week vs. Baltimore. His 54 pass attempts today were tied for the second-most in a game in Texans history.
Johnson's third quarter scoring grab was a 12-yarder, and the 50th touchdown of his career.
Foster's Sunday: Running back Arian Foster was limited to 15 yards on 11 carries, and managed six receptions for 46 yards. He played sparingly in the second half, rushing five times for just 10 yards, and catching one pass for six yards.
"His ankle is bothering him," Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said. "He missed one day of practice last week. It's a little sore, but he got his ankle in the game."
Foster also gave credit to the great play of the Titans defense.
"They played the run very well," Foster said. "We didn't run it a lot, but they played the run very well. We just didn't get a lot of opportunities out of the backfield."
Sack note: With three first-half sacks against the Titans, the Texans have a total of eight in the past two games. That's a team record, and on the day, Mark Anderson notched his fourth as a Texan, while rookie Earl Mitchell recorded the first of his career. Antonio Smith also tallied one as well.
Mitchell's came on Tennessee's opening drive, when he dropped quarterback Kerry Collins for a loss of eight, forcing a third-and-15 at the Texans' 49.
It comes just days after the team leader in sacks, Mario Williams, was lost for the season due to a sports hernia injury.
Allen's Interception: Cornerback Jason Allen picked off a Collins pass in the third quarter, after the Texans opened the second half with a 5:43 touchdown drive.
For Allen, it was his fifth of the season and second as a Texan. matching a career-high.
The former Dolphin, however, took little solace in the takeaway, and was disappointed with his team's outcome.
"It's definitely frustrating," Allen said. "But at the same time, you got to think that it's going to turn around. But I've still got confidence in our team."
