Texans coach Gary Kubiak spoke to the media after practice on Friday.
Head coach Gary Kubiak
(on how QB Matt Schaub looked in practice all week) "He's practiced well. He showed a little rust last week in practice as we went into the game, which you would have expected (with him) being out for so long, but he's obviously looked better this week. So just continuing to get reps should help him."
(on if DE Jesse Nading is still a game time decision) "It looks like he'll be OK. He practiced limited yesterday. He took all of his reps today, and unless he comes back tomorrow with any swelling or any problem, I think he'll be OK."
(on what DT Amobi Okoye has done to help the defense) "Just his presence coming back. First off, he's not 100 percent. He's been playing hurt for us the last few weeks. We missed some time with him. He's been getting better. He can play better than he's been playing, and I think he will as we finish this season. But just getting him back in some of the things we're doing, I think, has helped us out."
(on if he thinks DT Amobi Okoye is having a decent season considering the injury) "I think we would have all liked to have seen him take a bigger step forward in year two, but you can't do anything about a high ankle sprain. And there's still a lot of football left here to play. We're expecting him to be a big part of us playing better these last three weeks."
(on if DT Amobi Okoye is playing in run situations or more in passing) "Well, I wouldn't say there's one way or another. We just try to make sure he's playing 35 plays, somewhere in that neighborhood. So we're rotating those guys. It's like any other player. You're trying to find his optimal level. But his problem has been coming off of a high ankle sprain. Those things just don't get better, probably, until you take a lot of time off."
(on what DT Tim Bulman's finish to the season mean to him) "He's becoming a pro. He's been battling the odds for a long time. He's been cut enough and he's been on the practice squad enough. Now, it's time for him to be a pro for eight to 10 years, and he's taking advantage of his opportunity."
(on any injuries) "No. We're fine. (G) Chester (Pitts) practiced. (S) Nick (Ferguson) practiced. So I think we're full-go. Like I said, unless there are any setbacks with (DE) Jesse (Nading), we're OK."
