Quotes: DE Tim Bulman 1-on-1

After an offseason workout at Reliant Stadium, Texans defensive end Tim Bulman spoke with Texans TV about his health, his possible role in a 3-4 defense and some big life changes coming up in the next few months. The following is a transcript of his interview.

Texans defensive end Tim Bulman(on how interesting his offseason has been) "Yeah it's been going well. I got cleared (medically). I'm about to get married in three weeks. I've just been in here training as long as they'll let me and I'm enjoying every second of it."

(on what his new role will be in Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips' 3-4 defense) "I gotta gain a little more weight. Kind of go back to my more natural weight that I played at in college, around 285 (pounds). I usually played the last few years at 275. But I don't think it's that much (of a) difference. It's playing a 3 and a 5 technique, which I'm more than comfortable doing, and I've done my whole career, so I'm kind of looking forward to it. I feel really comfortable inside and really trying to create some havoc in there."

(on if the workouts are different now that he's slightly changing things) "Not for me. I think the only difference for me this year is that I didn't play the season, so I have a lot more energy than the guys that are just starting to file back in from wherever they were. They're mending and their bodies are probably still hurting from a long six month season. Whereas me, I got healthy probably about January. So I had a lot of energy building up in me. So I've started at the clock a little earlier, but I felt like I could, considering the fact that I didn't play."

(on his impressions of defensive coordinator Wade Phillips) "I briefly had a chance to meet with him. He definitely has a certain aura about him. He's been in the league awhile. He knows his stuff.  He's very well-respected and I think he's going to bring a new style, a new edge to this defense that we haven't had. I think a lot of guys are going to respond, and if they don't, I'm sure they won't be employed here."

(on which teammates he keeps in touch with during the offseason) "I keep in touch with (TE) Joel Dreessen, (OG) Mike Brisiel. I see everyone in here. I actually feel like I'm addicted to coming in here, because I don't have anything to do in the day. So I might as well come in and get a workout in and shoot the breeze with some of the guys in the training room. (Center Chris) Myers is in there, hanging out all the time. (Linebacker) DeMeco (Ryans) is in there. So we always have a good conversation flowing, and it's good to always be around the guys. We've got a good bond."
