The Texans practiced Friday at the Methodist Training Center, and then distributed free bicycles to more than 200 underprivileged children from the area. After, head coach Gary Kubiak met with the media, and the following is a transcript of his interview.
Texans head coach Gary Kubiak(on what owner Bob McNair heard from the other NFL owners and what does that mean to him) "I think it's good for him to talk to our players. They hear my voice all the time so I appreciate him doing that. When it's all said and done, the bottom line is (owner) Bob (McNair) wants us to beat Tennessee. That's where my focus is."
(on if he is focused on owner Bob McNair's affirmation that the team is headed in the right direction) "My job is to get this team ready for Tennessee. We had to make some adjustments with some issues we've had. So that's where my focus is now."
(on the status of K Neil Rackers) "He's fine. He actually kicked a bit today. He told me that he'll be okay. He's fine."
(on what issues and adjustments that he has for the team) "Obviously we got a new starting guard this week. We have a defensive end situation that we have to get worked out and we're suiting up a player that we just picked up. From a receiver standpoint, we have an adjustment to make with (WR) David (Anderson) out. We have a lot of work to do coming off of probably our most physical game of the year. I thought that we were sharp and fresh today. We'll be ready to go."
(on the bike give away for the kids) "It's pretty cool. We've done it every year and it has gotten a little bigger each year. I appreciate the guys doing it. It's important to them. They are the ones that want to do it and I think it's great for the kids."
(on where the funding come from for the bikes) "It starts off as fine money, but it really just ends up being donations. It's just something that we get together and do every year. Coaches and players, they were all kids once. They will probably remember their first bike too."
