Rookie diary: Keeping up with Jones

EDITOR'S NOTE: Wide receiver Jacoby Jones is providing a weekly diary entry for HoustonTexans.com to provide fans insight into his thoughts during his rookie season in the NFL.

This week, all the talk's about the Pro Bowl – who made it and who didn't. First off, I think Mario Williams got robbed. The guy played a heck of a year. He was balling, man. But a lot of people like that, they should've been there. Kris Brown should've made it, too, so that's how it is.

But my hat goes off to them; they haven't said much about it. They just roll with the punches. They're not tripping; they're just trying to keep winning games. Mario especially handled it real professionally.

As far as DeMeco Ryans getting there, that's undisputed. He's should know he was going. If he wasn't going, that would've been really trouble, but I'm proud of him to be going and he's also a starter, so he's representing the Texans. We're going to be rooting for him.

He hasn't said who he's taking with him yet. I hope he takes me, though. I just want to watch.

The Pro Bowl's definitely a goal every player in the NFL has. Everybody wants to get there one day. But more than that, I want to win, man. That's all, just win.

This is my first year here, but I've realized that we're trying to make some history with these last two games; we're trying to hope we can beat Indy and go ahead on and make it a winning season. That's what we're aiming for right now.

Everybody wants to be in the playoffs, and we can't this year, but it's still a big step for this organization. We're trying to make more steps. Getting a win at Indy and against Jacksonville in these last two games, that'd give us a whole bunch of confidence for next year. Once we come back in the offseason, that's what we'll be – we'll be good to go, ready to go.

For me personally, after starting off fast in the preseason then kind of getting slowed down by that shoulder injury and everything else, winning these last couple games makes everything feel a lot better. There's a different vibe around the locker room and everybody's happy, everybody's having fun at practice, so it's good.

Christmas is right around the corner when we get back from this weekend. My mom's in town already; she'll do some more of that cooking, so I'll be right here. We're going to have some more family coming into town staying at the house, so it should be a pretty big gathering.

We might have Monday or Tuesday off, but who knows. You never know in the NFL. That's alright, though, because I'm playing the game I love.
