Tight end Ryan Griffin and linebacker Trevardo Williams will be cheering on their former school, Connecticut, in tonight's NCAA championship game against Kentucky.
Griffin, who played high school basketball, was optimistic about the Huskies' chances for a championship run last month.
"Now it's all about March Madness," Griffin said in his March 4 interview with Texans All Access. "I'm really excited to see what the Huskies can do. They got to get some more presence down low but (guard) Shabazz (Napier) is an all-star scorer. He's definitely going to have a career in the NBA. That's my opinion. (Guard)( Ryan) Boatright is coming along nicely. It's going to be exciting. They can make some noise."
The seventh-ranked Huskies (31-8) will take on the No. 8 Wildcats (29-10) in the title game Monday night at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Players returned on Monday for Phase 1 of offseason workouts with the new coaching staff under Bill O'Brien.
