It was a bright spot in yet another loss for Houston. Rookie Ryan Griffin, who was the lone starting tight end for the Texans, had a record-setting day.
With Garrett Graham inactive due to a hamstring injury, Griffin set career highs in receptions and yards in Sunday's 25-3 loss at Indianapolis. He had 6 catches for 62 yards, averaging 10.3 yards per grab.
"It's not pretty out there and everybody wants to win," Griffin said. "Everybody's a competitor on this team. When things aren't going right, tempers flare but that's part of the game. We've got to come back and finish strong out here."
On Friday the Texans cut tight end Jake Byrne and added fullback Brad Smelley to the active roster. Owen Daniels could return to practice as early as this week.
