The Jets shook up the draft in a big way, trading up from No. 17 to No. 5 to take the quarterback they coveted, Mark Sanchez of USC. As a USC grad, I'm excited to see him go that high. He's got a ton of charisma to go with his talent, and I could see him being the best pro QB from USC of the Pete Carroll era.
The Texans will see Sanchez in his first professional game **on Sept. 13 in the 2009 season opener** at Reliant Stadium. That means the Texans will open their season against a rookie head coach (Rex Ryan) and a rookie quarterback in Sanchez. Sanchez started only 16 games at USC, so experience won't be on his side in Week 1.
UPDATE: Couldn't help but notice the background in Sanchez's interview with Shelley Smith on ESPN - a framed autographed jersey of none other than Texans quarterback Matt Schaub.
