Stats to know and big Sunday looming | Daily Brew

The Texans are practicing again today in preparation for Sunday's game at Green Bay.

Before we get to the links for reading, I thought I'd hit you with a few key notes from the NFL Research folks. Stuff like...

-This is the first meeting between the two franchises when both teams were two games or more above .500.

-The Packers defense is allowing 228.7 passing yards per game, which is the 8th-worst mark in the NFL.

-In the red zone this year, quarterback C.J. Stroud has a 122.1 passer rating, which is the 3rd-best mark in the league.

-The Texans defense is atop the NFL, allowing opposing quarterbacks to complete just 53.3 percent of their passes.

Team Analyst/Radio Sideline Reporter John Harris digs a little deeper in on the Packers in his weekly "Know Your Foe" report.

Harris and I huddled up earlier this week and discussed the Packers matchup, as well as why we're currently in the 'good 'ol days'.

How about another NFL Research stat?

Running back Joe Mixon's been awesome for the Texans this year. In the three games he's played, the Texans have averaged 29.7 points, 160 rushing yards, and 5.3 yards per carry. In the other three? They're 2-1, they've scored 18 points per game and picked up 3.4 yards a pop.

The Great John McClain wrote a bit more about Mixon, and Green Bay's new running back Josh Jacobs, and the impact that duo's had on their respective teams.

I answered a few fan questions earlier this week, and you can read that mailbag here. Also, congrats to Alfredo for winning Texas Lottery Scratchoff tickets.

The Houston Chronicle's Jonathan Alexander wrote about the importance of protecting the ball against the Packers.
