It's the number of days remaining until Houston hosts Super Bowl 51.
On Thursday, the Houston Super Bowl host committee unveiled the city's first countdown clock in a ceremony outside NRG Stadium.
Houston Texans Founder, Chairman, and CEO Bob McNair, Mayor Sylvester Turner, and members of the Super Bowl host committee were on hand for the unveiling. The clock, located east of Budweiser Plaza, between NRG Stadium and the Astrodome, will give Houstonians a constant countdown to next year's championship game. Super Bowl 51 will be the third Super Bowl to be held in Houston and the second to played at NRG Stadium.
"It's very hard to get these because there's a lot of cities that want to have it and there's a lot of competition," McNair said Thursday. "I felt fortunate that we were able to get the votes to win and there are a lot of new stadiums out there. We traditionally let a Super Bowl go to a new stadium, so that takes up a number of them. They're limited opportunities, so for us to do this and to have it for a second time is really important and speaks well of our city."
