With Danieal Manning out indefinitely with a leg injury, the Texans have signed safety Quintin Demps and waived wide receiver Trindon Holliday.

Demps (5-11, 206), a fourth-round pick out of UTEP in 2008, will back up Troy Nolan at free safety while Manning recovers from surgery. Demps spent the final month of last season with the Texans, appearing in two games. He was released on Sept. 3 after the final preseason game.

Hollday (5-5, 170) was signed two weeks ago to return kicks. He was inactive in Week 6 and got a chance to return just one punt in Week 7, on which he gained zero yards.

Cornerback Sherrick McManis will now return kickoffs for the Texans, backed up by Demps and rookie strong safety Shiloh Keo. Wide receiver Jacoby Jones will return punts, with Bryant Johnson, Demps and Keo behind him on the depth chart.
