HOUSTON – The Houston Texans announced their ticket prices for the 2012 season today. The Texans' average general ticket price in 2012 will be $78.66 per ticket, which is up 8.5 percent from $72.47 in 2011.
The price change is the first in two years for the Texans after rates remained flat from 2010-11. It is anticipated that the Texans will once again be in the bottom half of the NFL in ticket prices. Houston's average ticket price in 2011 ranked eighth among the 12 teams in this season's playoffs.
Texans season ticket holders received the first opportunity to purchase playoff tickets last season and accounted for more than 97 percent of the tickets sold to the general public for the Texans' Wild Card Playoff game against Cincinnati on January 7. Additionally, all payments made for a potential AFC Championship Game will be applied to 2012 season ticket payments. The remaining balance will be prorated over four payments.
"Our fans have created one of the best home field advantages in the NFL, as anyone who saw the Wild Card game can attest," said John Schriever, Texans Senior Vice President of Ticketing and Event Management. "We want to continue to make our games accessible to a broad audience while still pricing in a manner that reflects the strong demand for our tickets. Fielding a championship caliber team and delivering a world class experience for our fans requires us to generate revenues that keep pace with our competition."
The Houston Texans have sold out 101 consecutive games at Reliant Stadium, a Houston NFL record, and they defeated Cincinnati 31-10 before a record crowd of 71,725 in Houston's first playoff game in nearly 18 years. Ten consecutive sold-out seasons is the longest sellout streak of any professional sports team in Houston history. Under head coach Gary Kubiak, the Texans have posted a 29-19 record at Reliant Stadium, which is tied for the 10th-best home record in the NFL over the last six years.
Houston's 2012 home schedule includes several marquee opponents, including the Super Bowl XLV Champion Green Bay Packers and the Baltimore Ravens along with division rivals Indianapolis, Jacksonville and Tennessee. The Texans will also host Miami, Buffalo and Minnesota in regular-season action.
Reliant Stadium has been consistently recognized for having the best tailgating atmosphere in the NFL, and global customer satisfaction and market research firm J.D. Power and Associates recognized the Houston Texans for providing one of the best game-day fan experiences in the League.
