Texans announce new Spanish radio broadcast team

HOUSTON – The Houston Texans will have a new Spanish-language radio broadcast team beginning this season. Enrique Vasquez will serve as the play-by-play announcer, Jose "Jojo" Padron will provide color commentary and Fernando Hernandez will continue in his current role as an in-game analyst. Vasquez, Padron and Hernandez are all a part of Univision Radio, the leading radio company serving Hispanics in the U.S.

Vasquez begins his 11th season on the Texans Spanish radio broadcast in 2012. He is also a regular contributor on HoustonTexans.com in both the English and Spanish sections of the web site. He previously served on the broadcast as color commentator since the team's inaugural season in 2002.

Vasquez began his sports broadcasting career in 1992 as a color analyst on the Houston Oilers Spanish radio broadcast where he remained through the 1995 season. In addition, he handled play-by-play duties for FOX Sports Americas on the network's international coverage of the NFL game of the week as well as Super Bowls XXXI and XXXII. From 1998-01, Vasquez served as play-by-play announcer on select preseason games on the Dallas Cowboys Spanish radio broadcast and was the color commentator during the 2000 and 2001 seasons.

Padron enters his first season with the Texans Spanish radio broadcast and will serve as color commentator in 2012. He is currently the morning host of Univision Radio's "Mañanas Con Jojo" on KAMA Tu Musica 104.9 FM.

Padron broke into the broadcasting industry at the age of six, becoming the youngest television star on Univision's top-rated show "Sábado Gigante." He also made numerous appearances on other television shows, including "Party of Five", "ER", "General Hospital" and "Moesha."

In 2002, Padron turned his efforts to the radio business and has since been a part of several stations, including Hot 92 Jamz, Clear Channel in Los Angeles, KWIE Wild 96.1 FM in Riverside, Calif. and KVIB 95.1 Latino Vibe and KKFR Power 98.3 FM in Phoenix. He returned to Univision Radio in 2010 and can now be heard on Houton's KAMA Tu Musica 104.9 FM, San Antonio's KGSX La Kalle 95.1 FM and Albuquerque's KKRG La Kalle 101.3 FM.

Hernandez is in his eighth season on the Texans Spanish radio broadcast. His duties include in-game analysis and contributing to "The Texans Show" Mondays at 5 p.m. CT via Univision America 1010 AM, a station on Univision Radio's national AM radio network.

KLAT Univision America 1010 AM has been the flagship Spanish-language radio broadcaster of the Texans since 2002. It is owned and operated by Univision Communications Inc., the leading media company serving Hispanic America.
