The Texans can make the 2014 playoffs, but they'll need a little help.
First and foremost, they must beat the Jaguars next week at NRG Stadium. A victory over Jacksonville would push their final record to 9-7. It would also mean their record versus the AFC would be 8-4.
In addition, they need the Chargers and Ravens to lose. Both those teams are 9-6. If San Diego were to fall at Kansas City, they'd finish 9-7 with a conference record of 6-6. A Baltimore loss to the visiting Browns would drop the Ravens to 9-7 as well, with their conference record at 5-7.
If that scenario--Texans, Chiefs and Browns wins--were to arise, Houston would advance because the first tiebreaker among Wild Card teams with identical records, is the record within the conference.
