Texans Care Volunteer Day is Back | Daily Brew

Texans Care Volunteer Day presented by Chevron is back in limited capacity this year.

The Houston Texans annual day of giving back to the community alongside fans went virtual in 2020 due to the pandemic. On Saturday, May 22 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., the Texans will hold both in-person and socially-distanced opportunities to volunteer.

Over 600 fans have already registered to volunteer at four sites throughout the city of Houston: The YMCA: Camp Cinco presented by Ashley HomeStore, Boys & Girls Club of Greater Houston presented by Chevron, Hermann Park Conservancy presented by Miller Lite and Houston Food Bank presented by BMW.

In-person volunteer opportunities are already full due to limited capacity with COVID-19 precautions, but fans can still give back from their homes or cars. Signups for socially-distanced events like the United Way of Greater Houston benefitting the Houston Area Women's Center presented by Apache are still open. When fans register, they will be asked to create (with their own supplies) supply kits for the Houston Area Women's Center (HAWC) and drop them off at the United Way main office. Prior to the project, volunteers will receive instructions, suggested shopping lists and tips for their donation kits. The kits will help in the HAWC's mission to keep survivors, women, children and families safe from abuse. Click here to volunteer.

Fans can also give back on their own, whether it is donating blood, a meal or treats to first responders, writing uplifting cards to the elderly or making a donation to a favorite nonprofit.

Texans fans are encouraged to share the great things they do for the community, whether it is in person or on their own. Post pictures and stories with #TexansCare on May 22 and a chance to be featured on Texans social media platforms. For more information, visit www.houstontexans.com/community/TCVD.
