Texans cheerleader finals

* HOUSTON* – The final round of the fifth-annual Houston Texans Cheerleader Tryouts is scheduled for Tuesday, April 18 at 5 p.m. in the Verizon West Club at Reliant Stadium.

For the first time ever, Texans fans will have a voice in the selection process.

Following the broadcast of "The Making of a Houston Texans Cheerleader" on ABC 13, fans will be able to vote for the final spot on the squad. At the conclusion of the special, which airs on Sunday, May 7 at 10:35 p.m., fans will have two days to cast their votes on www.HoustonTexans.com and www.abc13.com.

The young ladies still in contention for a roster spot have each survived a grueling two-day, four-round preliminary audition process earlier this month. More than 700 aspiring cheerleaders began the process on Saturday, April 1. That number was reduced to 130 by the end of the second round, and was further cut down to the remaining 56 candidates by the end of the next day.

In just four years, the Houston Texans Cheerleaders have become known as the best in the league thanks in large part to the overwhelming number of outstanding candidates that audition each year. Hundreds of young ladies audition each year—more than 1,000 in years past—for the opportunity to be called a Houston Texans Cheerleader.
