Texans-Patriots winner to host AFC Championship Game

The winner of Sunday's Divisional Round playoff game between the Texans and New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium will host the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship Game.

The Ravens, the AFC's fourth seed, knocked off the top-seeded Denver Broncos 38-35 in double overtime on Saturday. The second-seeded Patriots or third-seeded Texans will now have home-field advantage in the final round of the AFC playoffs. The AFC Championship Game, whether it's in Houston or Foxboro, will kick off on Sunday, Jan. 20, at 5:30 p.m. CT.

The city of Houston has never hosted an AFC Championship Game. The Houston Oilers played in two AFC Championship Games after the 1978 and 1979 seasons but lost both games at Pittsburgh.

The Texans beat the Ravens 43-13 at Reliant Stadium in Week 7. Baltimore beat the Texans twice last season, once in the regular season and again in the Divisional Round of the playoffs, a closely-contested 20-13 victory. Both games were played in Baltimore at M&T Bank Stadium.
