Charles Spencer's injured left leg lands him on PUP list
HOUSTON - The Houston Texans have placed FB Jameel Cook and T Charles Spencer on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, the team announced today. Houston also signed T Kevin Barry as a free agent.
Cook (5-10, 237) is rehabilitating a knee injury suffered at the New York Jets (11/26/06). Cook was inactive for two games and was then placed on injured reserve for the final three contests of the year (12/15). In his first season with the Texans, the former Tampa Bay Buccaneer rushed three times for 18 yards and caught 18 passes for 107 yards.
Spencer (6-4, 337) was the first of two picks in the third round of the 2006 draft (65th overall). He earned the starting left tackle position during training camp and started the first two games of the year before suffering a season-ending broken leg in Week 2 at Indianapolis (9/17) and being placed on injured reserve two days later (9/19).
Barry (6-4, 332) spent the first five years of his career with the Green Bay Packers, where he played under Texans assistant head coach/offensive coordinator Mike Sherman for four years. Barry has played in 59 games with eight starts in his career. He spent the 2006 season in injured reserve after suffering a quadriceps injury in training camp.
The Texans also released rookie T Tavo Tupola.
