Thanksgiving morning saw the Texans practice a little earlier than they typically do on a Thursday. The team is preparing for a Week 13 matchup this Sunday with the Patriots, and they went through their typical Thursday routine about two hours earlier than normal. After their time at the Houston Methodist Training Center, head coach Gary Kubiak said everyone was there, save for a couple of veterans in Antonio Smith and Matt Schaub.
"Two guys were excused today," Kubiak said. "Antonio will be back this evening. He had some personal business. He'll practice tomorrow. Matt Schaub was also excused for a personal situation this morning."
Kubiak also said that starting cornerback Kareem Jackson, who's missed the last two games with a broken rib, looked better today. Jackson practiced for the first time in two weeks on Wednesday, and then practiced again this morning.
Kubiak was also asked about the various players on the team who routinely give back to the community. Despite the 2-9 record, Kubiak said several Texans are still making a difference in others' lives.
"You find out a lot about people with what's going on right now," Kubiak said. "Also, we need to give credit to this organization, because this organization does a great job of getting our players involved in the community."
Kubiak and the Texans will practice again on Friday. Kickoff against the Patriots is Sunday at noon CT.
