Valued at $1.85 billion, the Houston Texans landed at No. 16 on the 2015 Forbes 50 Most Valuable Sports Teams, released Wednesday.
The Texans increased in value from $1.45 billion last year but dropped four spots from No. 12. Sports franchises across the board rose in value, which may be a contributing factor.
According to Forbes, "The world's 50 most valuable sports teams are now worth $1.75 billion on average, up 31% from 2014. The minimum valuation to make the cut is $1.15 billion, versus $856 million a year ago, thanks largely to the soaring worth of NBA and MLB teams."
The NFL had more teams than any other sport with 20 of its 32 teams ranked on this year's list. Real Madrid, valued at $3.26 billion, nabbed the No. 1 spot on the list for a third-consecutive year and is one of seven soccer teams ranked.
