The Texans released offensive tackle Ephraim Salaam and linebacker David Nixon on Tuesday.
Salaam, a 13-year veteran, signed with the Texans on Sept. 22 after left tackle Duane Brown was suspended for four games. Brown returned to practice on Tuesday.
Nixon, a second-year pro from BYU, had six tackles on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. He played weakside linebacker for the entire second half after middle linebacker DeMeco Ryans went down with a season-ending Achilles injury.
The Texans claimed Nixon off waivers on Sept. 5 from the Oakland Raiders.
