The Texans have signed running back Joe Echemandu from their practice squad.
The Houston Texans have signed running back Joe Echemandu from their practice squad and waived running back Samkon Gado, it was announced Tuesday.
Echemandu (5-10, 226) was signed to the Texans practice squad on Oct. 10, 2007. He was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the seventh round of the 2004 draft out of the University of California.
During his four-year NFL career, Echemandu has made stops with the Cleveland Browns, Minnesota Vikings and Oakland Raiders.
Gado was acquired via trade from the Green Bay Packers on Sept. 13, 2006. He finished his first season in Houston with 217 yards on 54 carries and one touchdown.
