The Houston Texans signed free agent CB Briean Boddy-Calhoun. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Boddy-Calhoun, 26, has played in 43 career regular season games (21 starts) over three seasons with the Cleveland Browns (2016-18), compiling 128 total tackles (103 solo), 19 passes defensed, three interceptions, five quarterback hits, two tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, one forced fumble, 10 total special teams tackles and one interception returned for a touchdown. Last season, he posted 52 total tackles (40 solo), three quarterback hits, two passes defensed, one forced fumble and four special teams tackles in 16 games played. Boddy-Calhoun (5-9, 193) tied for the most interceptions among all NFL rookies in 2016 with three and was the only rookie in the NFL to record at least 1.0 sack and one interception returned for a touchdown. He also became the sixth player since 2000 to record an interception returned for a touchdown in his NFL debut in Week 3 of 2016 at Miami. A native of Wilmington, Delaware, Boddy-Calhoun was signed as a college free agent out of Minnesota by the Jacksonville Jaguars following the 2016 NFL Draft. He was claimed off waivers by the Browns on Sept. 4, 2016.
