The Houston Texans signed free agent TE Darren Fells. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Fells, 32, has registered 68 receptions for 830 yards (12.2 avg.) and 10 touchdowns in 70 career regular season games (48 starts) over five seasons with the Arizona Cardinals (2014-16), Detroit Lions (2017) and Cleveland Browns (2018). He's also posted five receptions for 51 yards (10.2 avg.) and two touchdowns in three career postseason games (two starts). Last season, Fells (6-7, 270) recorded 11 receptions for 117 yards (10.6 avg.) and three touchdowns in 16 games (11 starts) and helped the Browns rushing offense improve from 4.46 yards per carry in 2017 to 4.61 in 2018. A native of Fullerton, California, Fells played basketball at the University of California, Irvine and pursued a professional basketball career in Argentina, Mexico, Belgium, Finland and France from 2008-12. He signed as a free agent with the Seattle Seahawks in 2013.
