HOUSTON – The Houston Texans signed free agent LB Tim Dobbins, the team announced today.
Dobbins (6-1, 246) has appeared in 78 games with 16 starts, totaling 196 tackles (122 solo), two sacks for 13 yards, two interceptions for 17 yards, seven passes defensed and four forced fumbles. He has also appeared in seven postseason games, making two starts and registering eight tackles (four solo) and one sack for eight yards.
Originally a fifth-round pick (151st overall) out of Iowa State, the five-year veteran spent the first four years of his career with the San Diego Chargers before playing last season for the Miami Dolphins. In 2010, Dobbins appeared in every game, making six starts and finishing with 43 tackles (32 solo) and a sack. On four different occasions, he led the Dolphins in tackles.
In 2008, Dobbins started eight-of-16 games, registering career highs of 78 tackles (42 solo), one interception and two forced fumbles.
