The Houston Texans signed free agent S Tashaun Gipson. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Gipson, 28, has started 90-of-98 regular season games played and three postseason games over seven seasons with the Cleveland Browns (2012-15) and Jacksonville Jaguars (2016-18), compiling 395 total tackles (287 solo), 20 interceptions, 39 passes defensed, 11 tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. He is one of only five safeties in the NFL to record at least 20 interceptions since entering the league in 2012, joining Reggie Nelson, Glover Quin, Earl Thomas and Harrison Smith. Gipson (5-11, 212) started in all 16 games for three consecutive seasons with the Jaguars and earned Pro Bowl honors in 2014 as a member of the Browns when he ranked second in the NFL in interceptions with six. A native of Dallas, Gipson was signed as a college free agent out of Wyoming by Cleveland following the 2012 NFL Draft.
